So my dad just got a new computer and its running Windows7 64 and he bought BF2 because me and my brother play so he wanted to join us(my brother is vhaupt for those that dont know). So we installed it and during the install of the 1.41 Patch off the disk it said failed to patch. And then it just wont work. You click on the game and the screen shutters black then returns to desktop after a few seconds. We installed 1.5 patch and still the same thing. Wanted to get him up and running so was hoping for a fix if anyone knows it. All the other battlefield titles(1942, Vietnam, 2142) all started fine so idk why only bf2 is giving him a problem. Please help lol.

Try to reinstall BF2. What graphics card is in the computer? BF requires a gc that supports shader 1.4, I think some cheap chipset graphics still don't support it, just in case the computer does not have a Geforce or Ati card...

Its an Nvidia Geforce GT 230 i believe. And we have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times with no change.

I had the same problem and needed to reinstall patch 1.4 several times before I finally got it to work. Then patched 1.5 after I finally got 1.4 to patch correctly.

Try to install again,
But what ever you do do NOT install V1.41 first run the V1.5 patch only
See if that makes any difference also try getting the patch from somewhere else try this site....

I am not running WIN7 64bit yet but I do know of other people have same sort of problems, they keep on asking me for help so you never know I may find an answer. :)
Just to let you know the above worked on 3 of the 4 machines having these problems. :eek::eek:

I play, Win7 64bit Hungarian edition, and had no problem with the game still running. My son also uses it, not problem. Installation can be a problem. . .Setup allows it to refresh the dx9?
