My thoughts on Battlefield 3:

It won't be released at the end of this year as promised, just as every installment in the Battlefield series to date has not been released when promised. Haven't read much about BF3 game specifics, but I'm fairly convinced EA/Dice will release no further titles which will include any form of multiplayer co-op mode whatsoever. If you recall, Battlefield 2 was promoted, released, and sold as a conquest only game. It wasn't until the outcry from co-op game enthusiasts forced them to make some half-assed modifications to single player mode to pass it off as co-op mode. The amount of time it takes for them to program bot behavior and ai, as well as navmeshing all the maps to support ai players, makes it a no win situation for them. For that reason I personally believe they are pretty much done with co-op mode altogether.

I also believe that EA/Dice will not repeat the mistake they made with Battlefield 2 which allowed the game stats to be hijacked and privatized by anyone with a little time to learn how to do it - like me. For these reasons, regardless of how good a game it might or might not be, it will not replace Battlefield 2 for me.

BF2 is a classic and will never be beaten mostly due to the fact we can play humans vs bots, there is no other game that comes close to this!!!

Although Quake 3 team arena is a laugh it just does not have the longativity of BF2!!!

While we can hope you are wrong Kilemal, and that a similar co-op will make its way to BF3, it certainly hasn't been the trend to have that option. Although co-op does seem to be making a comeback of sorts, I am seeing it in multiple genres, but the big FPS titles have become exclusively pvp now, sadly.

We will just have to wait and see if BF3 will be a throwback to the golden game that is BF2 and include everything and more, or if it will just go with the flow of current fps.

It will go with the flow . . . .

Another factor in this is EA's recent decision to completely table Battlefield 1943. I was actually looking forward to that even more so than Battlefield 3. They claim they do not have the manpower to finish both projects in the forseeable future so they were forced to scrap one of them. They made the wrong choice if you ask me.

Well, even if things turn out for the worse, it will only be a matter of time until the dedicated fans make a mod of how bf3 SHOULD be, with great co-op playing. And about them scrapping projects, they probably were figuring out which would make more money, and considering that if they made bf3, then they could make the add-ons, and so on to make even more money. In this world, its all about the benjamins, and theres nothing we can do. I already pre-ordered it, and im sure i'll get my money's worth. Even if co-op online doesn't come out immediately, I'm sure i'll enjoy the co-op campaigns they promised us.

Ea/Dice are "promising" coop out of the box on this one. Albeit the co op wont look anything like BF2. BF2 was just an online fps. It has a single player mode but no real campaign mode. I'm expecting the coop to look a lot like it foes on the console versions of bad company 2 or like the coop in the call of duty series. 4 players per room and either a series of short objectives to complete or possibly a way for 2 or more players to play through the campaign simultaneously a la call of duty world at war. I too was looking forward to 1943 and the coop that was promised in bad co 2 for the pc versions. Fingers crossed that we may yet see !943 in the future.

Well DICE has already said they won't be releasing mod tools for BF3. Terrible I know, but there are complications with there licensing and the actual work to make it mod friendly was just way to much work and money to do it. That's not to say something won't change before release, but that was there statement as of yet. Who knows what people will come up with after the game is released, mod tools may be created by the community.

Petition to include them, started over on OCN (http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/946204-battlefield-3-mod-tools-petition.html) (although we know how effective petitions are...)

Those were probably cutscenes from the campaign, but still its better than the teaser. The teaser was nothing, at least this is SOMEthing, although not sure what to call it.

now THERES some content... I think. But it showed some real gameplay, considering you see the wasd key layout flash at the bottom when hes pulling that guy to safety. And for future reference to all of us, when we hear "RPG!" DONT GO NEAR A CAR! or anything else that can easily flip onto you. More tangible objects like buildings work much better.

There will be some form of co-op. Whether it is a human vs bots co-op or a humans vs campaign type co-op we don't really know.

I just preordered. Looks like it has the great graphics of BC2 but the gameplay is more back to BF2. Here's hoping for coop!

I think you have misunderstood my original post.
People that do have a facebook account were able to unlock the video for everyone, not just people that use facebook.

If it's going to be like BC2, I don't think I'll bother, for the same the reasons I switched to playing co-op on BF2. eg. HACKERS, trying to find a Hack-free BC2 server takes as long as playing a map!, then there's the vehicle hogs, spawn killers, base rapers etc. Too much stress & not enough fun.
Technically there is no reason why they can't have co-op, as they have single player (bots).
Just watched most of the EA trailer, a little too realistic for me.

Where did it say that? I read this article a while ago, I don't recall it saying that. There will be a SP campaign, but I don't think they said anything about co-op with bots or really anything about MP so far. That's been hush hush as of yet.

they asked if there would be a CO-OP and he replied "yes" but he wouldn't go into details about it.

Also it was confirmed that the Command Rose (Q) would be coming back in this game. That's good news.

There will also be a co-op game with 2(maybe more?) players that can go through a campaign style game. Could be fun, although I haven't heard anything about "traditional" co-op like what BF2 has currently.
