Very spontaneous, usually occurs mid-game. Only happens when I play BC2 and not BF2 or COD. You can bet its pretty annoying when it keeps crashing the game to desktop or BSOD/WSOD. Core 2 CPU is usually maxed out while the game runs.
Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

For those of you who have the caps lock tab out/stuck in WSOD glitch this might help.

In the my documents - BC2 folder there is a settings file under game settings.
Red: Width and height should be your screen res, make sure your full screen is true and Dx version is 9 or better.
Green: For some people, turning off BLOOM reduces the whiteness when zoomed in or aiming down sight. (Attacama Desert) Otherwise just reduce contrast.

When you crash, do you get more frequent crashes afterwards?

the times I have a problem with this (and that is the exact message) I am either accidentally hitting my cap lock because I am used to hitting it to look at my mini map and some times after I hit it I can't get back in it just white screens on me. the only other time I have had the problem is clicking to change my spawn point and it white screens on me. I don't have any problems while sighting up or explosions or anything big going on just those two things.

? ok im no expert or nothing but do u put bfbc2 into ya start up bar. To do other things like email 4 eg i only ask because if u minimize. Game it can cause black screen as bf2 does on my phenom 2 t1055 6 core so it could b the problem. Im guessing u running win 7 2 same as me right just do a total shut down of game. B4 doing other things hit us back if this was helpful hope it is

Read this article.

It points out several different problems others have encountered and fixed. I will summarize for you:
1. Temperature problems (overheating) - Solution turn up (max) your graphics card and processor fan speeds. Usually software is provided by the graphics card manufacturer to do this. I always put mine on 100% even though it sounds like a hair drier on low. This eliminated my Blue screen problems and they reoccurred as much as yours.
Additional solution: purchase a laptop cooler. Walmart sells them (though the quality will be lacking) for $20-$30.
2. Driver updates: updated your BIOS, graphics card and sound card drivers if you haven't already.
3. Sound card problems. Some have disabled their onboard sound and used actual sound cards instead and had their problems fixed. Now... because you have a laptop, this may not be possible, but try disabling your onboard sound in the BIOS and play for an hour just for kicks and see if you blue screen or not.
4. Anti Virus = possible slow downs for your system, including more strain on the CPU.
My anti virus program actually prevents BF2 maps and Bad Company maps from loading; So I disable it while gaming. Your processor already is a bottleneck for the game. If we all had enough money, I know we'd have quad core and six-core CPUs for gaming... Because you have a dual core, every bit of power it can render is used for the game.
Hopefully one of these ideas helps.

Thanks everyone. I think I just fixed it recently.
