I was talking to tinybob & a few others about this one the other day, only a 12MB download. This is a very simple RTS game where you command your own fleet of spaceships. Doesn't seem too challenging at first, but very few people have completed the game on it's hardest difficulty setting.
You can also make your own custom ships, maps, scenarios (all in standard D/L) & even weapons & ship sections (using custom sprites).
There are literally 1000's of ships in the custom ships data-base & custom weapons/ship sections are available for D/L too.
This game saved my sanity 2 years ago when I was stuck in the desert for 6 months with no internet.
BSF (BattleShips Forever) uses RAM & CPU & not video-card so it will slow down on older systems once you have over 120 spites (ship sections or weapons) on screen.
I mostly enjoy making the custom ships, then turning them loose on each other.
There is an entire meta-game as a sideline with it's own galactic history etc.
