Next time we do PR can we have 2 separate channels and a commander relaying commands? That way there aren't 14 peeps talking over each other..
It made it almost impossible to get a word in, and virtually impossible to understand anyone.Otherwise, lot's of Fun...Thx

Yes that's a good idea Squads on seperate channels, but a problem can arise with that if the other squads need help they will not be able to tell us.

hence the commander or if their squad cant hack it then they can type for help lol

First of all, I want to thank all of you that turned out for the Project Reality Party last night. It was great! I now a few of the group had hardware/software compatibility issues and lag issues, but still you gave it a try. Thanks!

Now on to business...

Yes it was and your idea is a very good one. I know from experience.

This is exactly what we did in BF2Combat.net. (for all 8 armies!+ the UN ref's)

The commander was in his own channel.
The squad leaders were in their own channels along with the assistant squad leaders. The grunts were each in their squad channels.

Ventrillo has a feature for setting up different buttons to transmit on different channels. (So does Teamspeak 2. )

In the 2nd Marines on BF2Combat.net we set it up this way:

The squad leaders had three (or more) buttons assigned to PPT.
One to give orders to the squad,
one just for his channel
and another to the commander.

(Other buttons could be set to talk to other squad leaders but info was usually relayed through the commander.)

The grunts had two buttons:
one to the squad channel,
and one to they squad leader's channel.

The commander had several (more than 7) buttons to PPT.

One to each squad leader, one to each squad and the SL.
One to all squad leaders.
and one to ALL.
And one to the UN. (to report possible ROE violations)

This arrangement cut down the chatter a lot.

Think about it, in a 30 vs 30 match, the voice traffic for even one side would be pure overload for everyone. I know this sounds a bit complicated, but it's really no different than what I have for PPT for normal BF2 or AIX.

I have two buttons to activate the PPT .
One on my mouse (Logitech G7 laser mouse with lots of extra buttons)
and one on the throttle of my Thrustmaster Afterburner II throttle and stick combo.

All it would take would be for the admins to set like three sub-channels in PR channel and everyone assign a button for PPT to the other channel.

I got confused a couple of times on Operation Barracuda last night when someone spotted enemy at 165 degrees and I looked but, no enemy. Turned out that I was no where near where they were as I was in a different squad. It took a just a moment to realize it was someone in Oreo's squad and not Vaughn's squad (the one I was in) but as we all know, you don't have "moments" in PR to spot the enemy bots and kill them before they put a bullet in your head from 400m. (with a pistol).

Sounds good except I would like Jenn and Bill there too, so how about next Saturday instead? Also, maybe a little earlier (9pm) so we can work out PPT buttons and channels?

Please let me know what everyone thinks.
