I just installed "Water treatment plant" & now any server map I try to load crashes to windows. I tried to play a single player map & those work fine. Please tell me I don't have to reinstall.....
Thanks,

did u take water treatment out of your levels file. the one on here didn't work before you had to get it from somewhere else (at least that was the last info I knew)

That was a good idea but it didn't work. Since that map was "installed" via an exe file does it effect any other files outside of the "Levels" folder?

It may have. Make sure the map is in the mods levels folder. Worst case scenario re patch 1.5 and manually place the map in the correct folder.

The safest way to install maps that come from an .exe file is to install them to a safe location like your documents folder then find the files you need.
here is an example of where to put them
C:/my documents/BF2 Stuff/New Folder unpact to here.
Then relocate to.....
C:\program files\EA GAMES\battlefield 2\mods\bf2\levels (xp)
C:\program files (x86)\EA GAMES\battlefield 2\mods\bf2\levels (64bit)
I just noticed that when it auto unpacks it tries to place the files.......
c:\program files\EA games\battlefield 2\mods\mercs\levels
To here this could be why its all gone a little bit pear shaped.
When your placing the files into the correct location allways remember to look inside the map folder as sometimes they enter into another folder.
The folder you need is the one that once opened the fils you see are
An info folder usually has some pics in it.
then to zipped files Server and Client.
And that should be all but sometimes you get more pics but that should be it. this is the folder you need.
install these files as I stated above, ito the correct location.

Two things:
1. Make sure your files are not double stacked. You should't click water treatment plant twice to get to the client/server files.
Should not look like this ~ water treatment plant -> water treatment plant -> client/server
Should look like this ~ water treatment plant -> client/server
2. Make sure you name your folder Water_Treatment_Plant
the spaces do not work, use the underscores.

Also keep in mind that there case sensitive, Meaning if you have the game running and you go to your favorite servers list and it has Water Treament Plant as the map thats running but it's red then you say well i have that map, go look in your levels folder and you have water_treatment_plant then thats the reason it's red just rename it to Water_Treatment_Plant

So I checked the "WTP" level folder & all looks normal now. However I still get the crash no matter what map is I'm rotation on either custom or stock servers. I tried to reinstall the patch & it pops up a window saying "battlefield 2 folder not found" & shuts down. It doesn't give me a chance to tell it where the folder is. And I know it's there. I did get the WTP map to run on single player & had no problems.

Have you tried to download the map from somewhere else!!??

Well if you can't connect to any of the servers regardless of what map there running with out the game crashing then you have something else going on.
If you had TeamViewer 5 i could find your problem or you could uninstall the game and then reinstall it.
If your worried about all your custom maps being deleted you can go to
EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2 and rename your Levels folder to Levels1 or anything you want, by doing this when you go to uninstall the game from the control panel the uninstaller will not delete that folder since it never created it to start with, its gonna be looking for the folder named levels not Levels1.
Reinstall the game do all your patches then go back to EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2 you will see that it created a new Levels folder, Delete it then go to your old levels folder that you renamed to Levels1 and just rename it back to Levels and your done.

Some maps that I have downloaded in the past would crash me back to desktop.
I tried downloading them from another site and then they worked fine.
Sometimes some sites are a little behind with there copies of maps, mainly ones that needed to be updated due to errors within the map code.
Not allways a solution but you never know it could help!
