Server Crashes

While I LOVE playing with the Team servers and members, i must voice a complaint about the servers. it seems that they are crashing an awful lot lately. It never fails, that just when i finally get some time to play, the servers crash. Is it just me? Can anything be done about this??? HELP!!!

Looks like that the client pc's are much faster than the server while loading the (new) map. I have to wait 1-2 minutes after my pc is finish and I could join the game. If I press the button earlier the server crashed everytime.

Today was one of those days when the games just didn't want to start. It happens sometimes with BF2 - don't know why - it just happens. It happened on Linux and it happens on Windows. Used to drive me crazy until I accepted the fact that there's nothing that can be done except wait til they decide to run, sometimes a couple minutes, sometimes a couple hours.

I'm aware that ALL the games crash more on Windows than they did on Linux. Five or six times per day (on a good day) as opposed to once every day or two on Linux. I know you guys just want to play, so I intend to have the server switched back to CentOS, hopefully with virtualization if the server admins know how to install and run it, so that we can still run Windows games on one of the domains while BF2 runs on the Linux domains. If that isn't going to be a possibility, then, we'll just run Linux again, period.

I've been swamped with work lately and have been busy with some other issues, so I just haven't had time to get this done. I'm hoping to be able to deal with it this weekend. Also - at the risk of sounding like a broken record here - we barely took in enough donations last month to pay the game server bill. Although that's the largest of all the bills, it's still just a little more than half the total cost of running all this, and changing the game server over again is going to cost even more - again.


Project Reality got somehow FUBAR'd today while all the games were crashing. After a restart of everything I can't get it to run at all. I'll try to give it a better look tomorrow, but for tonight it's a dead soldier.

I know you guys have played Strike at Karkand way too many times today so I've been talking to the server people about making the switch back to linux. It's going to mean probably a day of downtime but in the end, hopefully the games will run the way they used to.

I'm pinging the server, so it's running again.
Shouldn't be long before they have the necessary accounts set up, so I'm off to the office to get ready. More computers there . . . . get stuff done faster.

Servers are now dead and I hope after a 24hour period they will return.
As I have been away in hospital again for the last few days and have not been able to play BF2.
Lucky for me I got a game this morning GMT time.
Just a moments ago before I started to type the servers died.

Can someone play the last post for the old operating system :D

Tomorrow at around this time I hope all will be well and I can kill a few bots.

Crashing solved thanks to you. Now it wants to mess with you in another ways. Players go prone and can not get up or can not stay prone and other things like that. Kill bots and their bodies continue standing like those old Chinese warrior statues. Weird stuff indeed. None the less thanks for your efforts.

Yea same here lol i was thinking my game install was screwed, done a complete reinstall and the samething happens, So i finally tried a couple of other servers and it does'nt happen, come back to team and once i go prone i can't get back up.

If your actually able to kill a bot once you do he still stands there for like 1 to 2 min's and then all of a sudden he just falls.

In the interest of keeping everyone on the same page here: A move BACK to linux, will definitely solve the issue. The games ran great for over two years, as a matter of fact, people who have run their own BF2 games on windoze for years, frequently commented to me on how stable our games ran. Sadly, getting support for linux game servers is getting harder all the time - although these people we have now seem pretty good, so far - and the number of games that can be run on linux is kinda limited, like limited to: BF1942, BF2142, BFVietnam, and BF2.

At least we can run those three games and have them run well . . . .

Hay Mabe yall can help me ...im runnin the bfspccc and it runa all mods ranked ....my thing is you cant play all the maps ... well all the coop 16 player maps load properly but if i run any other game typ cq does it ...i havnt tested the aix sp1 sp2 sp3 yet but when i load cq map it crashes to desktop....what am i doing wrong or do i need to take out the bots ???
oh ok well nit works like reguler server from ea but to load map all of them for bf2 and special forces cq type 16 player maps no bots stops crash but no other players ...this worked for me to get all the ribbons for each army ...it crashes when iput bots in...how do i backup stats ?...lol

WELL WAIT... the thing i need help with the most is ... the aix 2.0 dounloads and installs the BF2SPCCC and its ranked ...but if the server goes down that the stats reset ...or i heve to re install it and the stats are reran to how can i back those up what files do i back up ...if anyone at all can help me with this please do ....im workin low hours and my internets gettin hut off ...i might be in need of offline play again ...but if something goes wrong i wannt it backed up...lol thats the first thing i lurned in colleg comp tech back shit up dummy lol

I'd be more than happy to help you bud - but I've never worked with the AIX ranking system and have no idea how its set up. Generally though, the game sends the stats to another server (can be the same server although doing so causes issues) and stores them in a MySQL database. If your game is recording stats you must have set up some sort of config file somewhere telling your gameserver where to send the stats and probably a username and password to access the database. If you used either localhost or ip 127.0.0.1 as the "stats server" then it is the same machine that's running the game. Just back up the MySQL database using phpMyAdmin or another SQL utility.

your right im not to formilier with that stuff but iv been playin around with it ...that seems to be the best way to lurn ..but theres just stuff i dont know hahaha ...but hey if i can catch ya on TEAM vent some time ill rap at ya bout it ...i might not know to much bout it but alls i need to know is what steps to take ....i played with the files enough to figure out the username and password to all that although i dont know what all the options are
i tried to save the stats folder in the mods folder in bf2 but that just resets the stats.... its weird i enjoy muffin around with that stuff than i do playin the accual game... lol....iv benn wanting to finish my collage computer tech ...network tech and website tech ...but lack funds has me payin to many bills ad lookin for better work all the time ...so i havnt got as far as i wanted in the technical stuff

...im real good at pc building and maintnence ...but the website stuff im affraid i know enough to be dangerous if you know what i mean lol .ok well im get off here thanx for your help man ...and ill see yall in game !
